Although some who think of St. Kitts as an island where there is only something to explore only in the capital town of Basseterre, many will come to find out that St. Kitts offers other various parts of the island where attractions are endless and it is impossible to see the area in less than 5 hours. So, for those of you with the luxury of time, you are in for a big treat because this amazing island will amaze you.

When visiting St. Kitts, you will come to find out that one of the more popular attractions is Brimstone Hill, dubbed as "the Gibraltar of the Caribbean". The citadel is mostly a reconstruction of the 18th century fortress that saw battles between the French and English Forces. You can also visit its museum where you can learn more about the fortification and some artifacts from the pre-Columbian period. Make note that you don't have to be a history lover to visit this site. Breathtaking views can also be seen from the area such as the nearby islands of Nevis and Montserrat to the southeast as well as St. Maarten and St. Barth to the north, among others. This excursion can also appeal to the hikers as there are several nature trails surrounding Brimstone Hill. These paths will take you through lush forests. When hiking however, take caution for the monkeys because they can get a tad too eager at times.

Another favorite attraction that might interest some is the scenic railway tour of old sugarcane plantation. This trip is more suited for those who want to sit back, relax and enjoy the scenic views. You will not only learn about the island's history and local folklore but also catch sight of a spectacular montage of landscapes such as wide views of lush rainforests and panoramic views of the ocean along the way. Also worth your visiting is the Romney Manor. There you will find amazing green gardens, lovely cottages and 350 year old Saman tree. It is also home to Caribelle Batik where you can learn how the vibrant batik clothes are dyed. This attraction is worth a visit.

If you are looking for an attraction that will give you an adrenaline rush then take advantage of St. Kitts towering trees and go zip-lining over a long stretch of lush foliage. You can also plan a hiking trip to get up close and personal with the rich flora and fauna. But, if you are planning to climb all the way to the peak of Mt. Liamuga make sure to bring a local guide with you. There are many local guides which you may book in advance to guide you through.

Also, as a note for those who love golf, one of the better golf courses to visit would be the Royal St. Kitts Golf Course. The grounds are stunning and the views are beautiful. If you get bored of golfing then you may want to get your snorkel and diving gear and head to Bloody Bay Reef where you will find a network of underwater grottoes. Of course, you may also just want to spend your day in one of the stunning beaches of St. Kitts. There is Friar's Bay on the southern side of the island whose calm Caribbean waters are perfect for swimming and there are several bars and restaurants on site if you need to grab a bite or a refreshing drink. Frigate Bay beach is another popular place for its swaying palm trees, fine white sand beaches and horseback riding opportunities. But, if you are looking for a more peaceful escape, then the remote Sand Bank Bay is the perfect choice for you. Note, any beach, restaurant, or attraction that you may choose in St. Kitts it is guaranteed that you will not be disappointed.
